So that obscenely expensive and annoying 30-pin adapter to make all your new iPhone 5 or iPod Touch work with your “old” peripherals comes with a ton of unnecessary packaging if you placed an order online.
Check out the cardboard box, the cardboard flap that keeps your adapter box from moving around, the product packaging with another flap that keeps your adapter from moving around, then some instructions, obligatory FCC notices and warnings. That’s at least 15 dead trees right there. This action seems counter to Apple’s image of an eco-friendly company.
All for an adapter that really shouldn’t cost $29, but then again maybe the cost includes the overhead for all the cardboard.
